He describes the evolution of East Asian cultures into modern nation states and economic powers. Additionally, he examines the social and environmental problems, trade frictions, immigration, as well as the growing interdependence of the Asia-Pacific nations. This work can contribute greatly to understanding Asia as a 21st century power.
